Season's greetings and asking for your support

Dear List members,

We hope that you enjoyed the On-Line Forum on the Follow-up to the Decade
for Human Rights Education that just concluded. One of the unique features
of this listserv is that it allows us to hear the diverse experiences and
perspectives of human rights educators from around the world! Right now,
there are over 3,100 members from 150 countries, and the list grows every
day. Many members have written us to say that they have used materials
posted on the list, attended a course that was announced, or receive
answers to their queries. Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) is
pleased to be able to host, facilitate and moderate this list, and we
thank you for your participation and contributions over the past year.

We would like to ask those listserv members who are in a position to do so
to make a contribution to the continued operation of the List. These
donations are tax-deductible in both the Netherlands (41216486) and the
United States (04 3428 879). Checks or (international) money orders in
U.S. dollars can be sent to the U.S. office of HREA, P.O. Box 382396,
Cambridge, MA 02238-2396 USA. On-line donations via credit card are also
possible at: http://www.hrea.org/lists/hr-education/index.html

All amounts are welcome and very much appreciated. However, those members
donating $50 or more will receive a free copy of HREA's Human Rights
Education Resourcebook (2nd edition, 2000, see http://www.hrea.org/pubs/
for more details about this publication). Please indicate whether you
would like us to send this to you or to someone else, and include the
complete mailing address.

Because of the success of the Global HRE list, new partner organisations
in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East will be collaborating
with HREA over the next two years in creating regional listservs in
Arabic, French, Russian and English. List members may recall that in 2001,
the Inter-American Institute for Human Rights (IIDH) in Costa Rica -- in
partnership with HREA and with support from UNESCO -- launched a similar
regional listserv in Spanish and Portuguese, which has been very
successful. We will keep you updated on these exciting developments.

List moderator Frank Elbers and I would like to personally thank listserv
members for their excellent contributions. Every day we learn something
new from the ideas, questions and experiences that you share. HREA looks
forward to facilitating many more years of dialogue with this unique
community of human rights educators and advocates.

Warm regards and best wishes of the season,

Felisa Tibbitts
Director, HREA
