CALL FOR SYLLABI ON INTERNAL DISPLACEMENT FOR BROOKINGS COLLECTION

Dear Colleagues,

Increasingly academic institutions around the world are beginning to
include the subject of internal displacement in their course work. At the
City University Graduate Center of New York, for example, Dr. Francis M.
Deng, Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Internally Displaced
Persons, began teaching a course in 2000 on the subject of internal
displacement for which he developed a course syllabus and in connection
with which the Brookings-CUNY Project on Internal Displacement published a
Selected Bibliography on the Global Crisis of Internal Displacement. Given
the widespread interest in the bibliography and the course, the
Brookings-CUNY Project has decided to compile course syllabi from around
the world that address the topic of internal displacement. We plan to
publish this collection as a resource for academics and researchers who are
planning courses and training materials on the subject of internal
displacement in an effort both to assist them and stimulate others to
create academic programs. We have been informed by university faculty in
different parts of the world that they would welcome this support.

We therefore would very much appreciate receiving from you any syllabus
that you have developed relevant to internal displacement. The syllabi to
be published in this collection should reflect a definite focus on the
subject of internal displacement and/or the Guiding Principles on Internal
Displacement, even if the course itself is more broadly formulated. Our
publication will fully acknowledge the title of the course, the institution
at which it is taught and the contact information of the professor (if so
agreed) who developed it. If you would like your course to be included in
this collection please email us an electronic version of the syllabus at
gsanchez@brookings.edu

We would also be most grateful to receive the names of professors and
academic institutions you believe we should contact that we might not know
about.

We would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible so that we can
plan for publication prior to the fall semester.

We thank you very much for your involvement.

Sincerely,

LOOKING FOR A LIST OF CONTACTS OF ORGANISATIONS (NGOs) IN UK

Friends,

I am a development sector professional with more than 12 years of
experience in human rights interventions, health interventions. I am als a
qualified legal professional. Please help me to find relevant NGOs in
London with whom I can link up for necessary documentation help &
information dissemination. I hail from the most economically backward
states of India and would appreciate if I could get a list of contacts of
organisations (NGOs) in the UK.

I am visiting UK from 8th of Aug to 16th of Aug and hence would like to
take the opportunity to meet NGOs and share my concerns & issues. Women
are the worst sufferers in my part of the world and am looking for
assistance (technical) for our organisation which is working with the
marginalised community for more than a decade.

Regards,

Charudutta Panigrahi
