[hr-education] 16th Annual Geneva Training Course in International HR Law and Diplomacy (10 March-25 April 2003)

Dear colleagues,

The International Service for Human Rights is currently recruiting
participants for the 16th annual Geneva Training Course in International
Human Rights Law and Diplomacy (GTC), from 10 March to 25 April 2003.

The Geneva Training Course in International Human Rights Law and Diplomacy
is a seven-week course which runs parallel to the United Nations
Commission on Human Rights.  Our primary objective is to enable human
rights defenders world-wide to make effective use of the UN and other
international human rights procedures. The training is unique in its
inter-disciplinary approach, addressing theoretical aspects of
international human rights and humanitarian law, as well as procedures and
practice of intergovernmental mechanisms, in particular the UN Commission
on Human Rights. Focus is placed on the practical role NGOs can play in
these procedures.

We are looking for candidates who are actively involved with the human
rights organization/institute that supports their candidature, and who are
committed to continuing their work together in the region using the
information and skills acquired during the training. A good knowledge of
English is essential since this is the working language of the Course.

Candidates will have to seek their own funding for the Course, although
the International Service will provide constant support, including a
contact list of regular donors, in this process. Participation is limited
to a maximum of 35 individuals.
