Call for Applications: Global Training Course on ESC rights

Dear friends,

The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in partnership with Forum
Asia and the International Human Rights Internship Programme (IHRIP) will
organise a Global Training Course on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
from 23 November to 1 December 2002 in Portugal.

The overall goal of this project will be to contribute to strengthening
knowledge and skills of those working for empowering people living in
extreme poverty through human rights and thereby contribute to building
the capacity of grassroots movements to better promote and defend basic
ESC rights.

This training will be aimed at "catalysts" from the different world
regions. These persons will be in a position to spread knowledge and
skills they have acquired from the course and to introduce/ implement what
they have acquired within their own organisations or environment.

We would like to invite applicants from development organisations, and
groups fighting for social and economic justice. We particularly encourage
women and those coming directly from the grassroots organisations to
apply.

You can obtain a full presentation of the training course and an
application form from Aye Aye Win at <aye.win@coe.int>.

If you know of anyone or groups who may be interested in this course,
please help us to forward the information. The deadline for applications
is 30 July 2002.

Warm regards
