The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is organizing practice-oriented seminars for professionals experienced in the fields of humanitarian action and human rights. The main topic of these training sessions is the protection of civilians during armed conflicts. The forthcoming seminars will address the following subjects: Protection of civilians: information gathering, processing and methodology (12-14 March 2002) Protection of civilians: influencing state and non-state actors (9-11 April 2002) Protection of civilians: operations on behalf of specific groups (14-16 May 2002) The seminars are organized by ICRC staff in cooperation with outside experts (practitioners, academics...) and the method used includes presentations, case-studies, team work and discussions.
