Conference on Inclusive Education (Canada, October 2001)



The Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) is holding its annual
conference this year in Moncton, New Brunswick, October 18-20, 2001.

CACL will host a Inclusive Education day at the Pre Conference day on
October 18, 2001 from 9 am - 4 pm (at the Delta Beausejour where the
conference is taking place).

This day long session, entitled Inclusion in Our Classrooms: A Day for
Parents, Educators & Administrators, will be moderated by Gordon Porter,
the President of Inclusion InterAmericana, and topics and speakers include
the following:

FOR ADMINISTRATORS & POLICY EXPERTS:
- inclusive education as a human rights issue
- inclusive education: current legal status
Speakers: 
Remy Beauregard, Executive Director, Ontario Human Rights Commission
Doug Willms, Professor & CIAR Chair in Human Development at the U of New 
Brunswick

FOR EDUCATORS:
- What does a good inclusive classroom look like?
- Teaching strategies
- Networking & sharing
- Inclusion in primary, secondary % post secondary settings

Kathy Myketyn, Halifax Regional School Board
Vianne Timmons, Dean, Faculty of Education, U of PEI
Joanne Putnam, Associate Professor of Teacher Education, U of Maine at 
Presque Ile
