I am a law student collecting information for a research project on Human Rights Education and Public Policy in the United States. In addition to examining work undertaken by former Senator Paul Simon's Public Policy Institute here at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and work undertaken by Amnesty International in New York state, I would like to examine any other efforts to connect Human Rights Education to Public Policy in the U.S. My goal is to produce a paper that not only captures the present state of Human Rights Education and Public Policy in the U.S., but also provides interested individuals and groups with lobbying techniques and strategies they can use to strengthen the connection between Human Rights Education and Public Policy in parts of the U.S. where little has yet been done. I would appreciate any information on efforts to engage public officials in the Human Rights Education movement, from the local level to the national, from school administrators to professional politicians.
