GLOBAL YOUTH CONNECT INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE

Closing Date for Applications: December 31, 1999

GLOBAL YOUTH CONNECT (GYC) is a global organization, led by and for
young people, which supports and encourages youth activism, community
building, reconciliation and non-violence. Our goals are to build and
support a community of frontline young activists from around the world,
and to inspire a new generation of young people to work for human rights
and social transformation. GYC was created by a steering committee of
young people from around the world, and is led by a board of directors
made up entirely of youth. (For more information on GYC, please visit
our web site at http://www.globalyouthconnect.org).

We are presently searching for interns to work on an unpaid basis
starting January 2000. We are looking for individuals who can work at
least 10-15 hours per week. GYC will complete any necessary paperwork
for students to receive course credit for their work.

GYC believes that internships should be substantive experiences and
therefore, any interns working with GYC can be assured that their skills
will be well-utilized.

PROGRAM INTERN: The Program Intern will provide support to the on-going
development of GYC's programs. Presently, these programs include a
Human Rights Learning Community to take place in April 2000, a Youth
Activist Support Network and a New Activism Initiative.

RESEARCH INTERN: The Research Intern will help GYC in developing a
research initiative that looks at the lives and needs of young human
rights activists around the world. The research intern will also work
with GYC staff to develop an evaluation plan for its programs and to
help collect and analyze this data.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN: The Development Intern will work with GYC staff and
Board members to develop and implement fundraising strategies. This will
include: proposal writing, research on funding prospects, assistance
with direct mail campaigns, special events, etc.

OUTREACH/CAMPAIGN INTERN: The Outreach/Campaign Intern will work
specifically with GYC to expand its outreach to young people interested
in human rights activism. This internship will also include various
responsibilities in support of GYC's current campaign efforts in
support of young human rights activists.

General Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have excellent written
and oral communication skills; experience and/or interest in social
justice, human rights, international development, conflict resolution,
mediation, intercultural understanding, and/or education; and a sense of
humor is invaluable.

GYC is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages
applications from people of diverse backgrounds, women, people of color,
people of diverse sexual orientations, people with disabilities, etc.

If you are interested in joining GYC as an intern, please send a cover
letter and resume no later than December 31, 1999 to:
