Seeking consultant on health and human rights in Southern Africa

The Network for Equity in Health in Southern Africa (Equinet) is seeking an
individual, preferably from within the region, to prepare a paper on health
rights in SADC countries for use in policy fora, with a particular emphasis
on defining ways in which the goal of equity in health can be achieved
through a focus on health as a human right.

The research work would also be required to address the following concerns:
1. Human rights, health and the role of and social/ constitutional
movements;
2. The extent to which a human rights approach may have enhanced equity in
the response to HIV/AIDS.

The paper should present the options that SADC countries have in relation to
both international and regional conventions and instruments.

Equinet will provide a fee of up to US$3000 for this work which would need
to be completed in draft form by the end of February 2000, and in final form
by May 2000. Further details of Equinet's work can be found at
http://www.equinet.org.zw

Expressions of interest, accompanied by brief CVs, should be submitted to
equinet@fahamu.org.uk or tarsc@icon.co.zw

Please forward this message to others you think may be interested in
applying.
