Call for entries for Aharonian Teaching Award for teaching the Armenian genocide

San Francisco, CA, March 25, 2007 --The Genocide Education Project is
pleased to announce the Call for Entries for the 2007 Aharonian Award. The
Aharonian Award recognizes and rewards a secondary level educator who has
developed a particularly effective lesson plan for teaching the Armenian
Genocide. The lesson plan must have been used in a classroom during the
current academic year and will be selected by a panel of educators.

This is the second year that a national award has been offered to
secondary level educators who teach about the Armenian Genocide. Last
year's winner, Ron Levitsky of Illinois, was the recipient of the award
with his lesson plan -- Send Messages of Hope: Postage Stamps and the
American Response to the Armenian Genocide. Levitsky is a educator
dedicated to teaching about genocide and has been an ardent supporter of
the Illinois mandate regarding genocide education.

"We are looking forward to reading another set of outstanding lesson plans
this year," stated Raffi Momjian, Executive Director of The Genocide
Education Project. He continued "It was exhilarating to see how teachers
were incorporating this important subject into their classrooms."

The deadline for the award is June 1, 2007 and the full criteria for
entering a lesson plan can be found at www.teachgenocide.com/aharonian.

The recipient will receive a $500 award, resources on the Armenian
Genocide for him/herself and the affiliated institution's library, and the
publication of the lesson plan on http://www.TeachGenocide.com. For
