Dear Colleagues and Friends, I wanted to let you know that HREA has been honored by being asked to participate in a panel briefing the Human Rights Caucus of the U.S. Congress. The Caucus is a bi-partisan group dedicated to educating members and staff about human rights issues around the world. The briefing on human rights education will take place on Friday, February 16th. I would like to use this opportunity to present, among other things, key issues in relation to HRE in the U.S. I heartily welcome the suggestions of members of the North American HRE listserv regarding key HRE developments in the U.S. as well as remaining needs. I also encourage those of you are based in Washington, DC to consider attending the briefing and ensuing discussion, which is open to the public, and will take place from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in Room 2200 of the Rayburn House Office Building. I look forward to your input, and I trust that you share my enthusiasm that the topic of human rights education has come to the attention of the Human Rights Caucus. Thanks to Tina Ramirez, a member of this listserv who is on the staff of the Rep. Trent Franks, as well as the International Human Rights Education Consortium, for helping to make this happen.
