Today's world is a challenging place for girls to find empowerment and
peace; however because of organizations like yours, girls are achieving
the tools and skills needed to change their world. Girls International
Forum (GIF) is a non-profit organization created to empower girls to take
action on issues affecting girls everywhere now and in their future. We
are in the process of collecting 10,000 surveys from girls around the
world in order to identify the main issues facing girls internationally
today. With this information we will be able to develop a Girls' Platform
for Action which will be utilized world-wide. Your help in reaching girls
to participate in the survey is essential and much appreciated.
We would like to reach your organization's large constituency of girls who
could potentially fill out this important survey and would greatly
appreciate your help in connecting with more leaders and mentors who are
able to reach them.
The Girls' Platform for Action will be a product of the International
Girls Summit, held in the United States in July 2006. One hundred girl
delegates and their women mentors from around the world will attend the
Summit and use the information gathered from the surveys in order to
develop the Girls' Platform for Action and post- Summit Action Projects.
The Summit will be guided by a diverse team of Girls Summit Leaders, ages
12-17, from across North America. These Summit Leaders have already chosen
five important areas of concern to focus on in the survey and the
Platform: education, health (HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy), human rights,
violence, and economic empowerment. The Platform will include short-term
goals, long-term goals, and action steps.
We are asking girls 18 years of age and younger to complete the survey.
They do not have to answer every question and we ask that their identities
be kept confidential. We do, however, ask them to tell us their ages,
where they live (city and country), their race, and their ethnicity. The
survey can be completed online or can be printed as a PDF and then sent by
mail.
Please visit {http://www.girlsforum.org/survey.htm } to fill out the
survey. Surveys should be completed by April 28th, 2006.
We also enjoy celebrating the empowering actions girls are taking right
now. To find out about the We are not Ophelia Book Project, please visit

Thank you for your help! If you have any questions, please contact us at
