1. 10th Anniversary Global TeachNet Newsletter out now!

Global TeachNet is a bimonthly teacher resource from the global education
networks of the National Peace Corps Association and the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development. Summer 2005 marks the 10 year
anniversary of the newsletter, with articles such as: 9-12 Corner: Lessons
from Two Recent Books; K-8 Corner: Let's Go Fly a Kite; Meet the Author:
Margy Burns Knight; 2004-2005 Peace Educator Award Winner; Suggestions for
Summer Reading; Electronically Speaking; and Global Education Resources.

2. "Social Studies and The World: Infusing Global Perspectives"

"Social Studies and The World: Infusing Global Perspectives" is just out
from the National Council for the Social Studies. Written by RPCVs Merry
Merryfield and Angene Wilson, it includes chapters on teaching world
cultures, world and US History, global issues, current events and planning
cross-cultural experiences. It includes 50 teaching ideas and hundreds of
resources useful in infusing global perspectives into middle and high
school social studies.  To purchase a copy call 1-800-683-0812, quoting
the item or inventory number 050103. The price of the book is $14 for NCSS
members, $22 otherwise.

3. LearnAboutYourWorld.org - children's books, in-class activities, and more

Margy Burns Knight, Anne Sibley O'Brien and Mark Melnicove have created
illustrated books to help children discover the world. These award winning
books are used in classrooms across the country, aligned to learning
standards, and are praised for their authentic representation of diverse
world cultures.  Website includes news about their books, classroom
activities, and information about classroom visits from the authors.

4. TeachGlobalEd.net offers resources and reviews

TeachGlobalEd.net is the product of ongoing collaboration of Ohio State
University's Social Studies and Global Education program with OSU's
African Studies Center, East Asian Studies Center, the Center for Latin
American Studies, the Middle East Studies Center, the Slavic and Eastern
European Studies Center and Indiana University's Center for the Study of
Global Change. The website includes resources searchable by region or
topic, including links to websites of many other organizations and groups.
  The Centers have approved all resources offered here for K-12 teachers.

5. Distance Education course - "Introduction to the European System of
Human Rights Protection and Promotion"

"Introduction to the European System of Human Rights Protection and
Promotion". The course will be offered from September-December 2005.
