Hi Everyone,

My name is Jessica and I'm with the FACEHumanRights.org projects at
Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. We are trying to build an online
human rights journal that is for students, by students. We hope to give a
voice to student activists in human rights. We want to give students a
chance to research and investigate human rights abuses, form networks with
other students and grassroots organizations, provide a pool of resources
and scholarship/internship/job opportunities, and provide virtual spaces
and linkups for teachers and their classes in different countries around
the world.

We've developed this survey for students because we want to know what
students are looking for in a site like this, whether they've encountered
similar sites, and what they like or don't like or want to see more of in
an activist site. We'd like to hear as many ideas as possible from
students like you because we want to make this something *you'll* want to
use -- so it would be really great if you could fill out this survey and
send it back to us at jessimeden@gmail.com

We have more information about the upcoming website at
http://cgsd.rutgers.edu/face.shtml

Thank you!
Jessica

TEACHER QUESTIONNAIRE

The Center for Global Security and Democracy at Rutgers University is
creating an online human rights journal for students. In contrast to much
current human rights activism in which student voices are marginalized,
we want to build a thriving community where students can network with
others like them around the world to inform, learn and engage each other
as global citizens.

Among other things, we hope to give students a space to:

-	learn about human rights law and events
-	connect with other young people to share ideas and experiences
-	conduct investigative journalism and get published
-	find human rights internships, scholarships, and travel opportunities
-	plan and take action on an global scale

At facehumanrights.org we will also provide you, teachers from around the
world, the ability to create shared, electronic classrooms in which you
can co-teach human rights related courses and put your students to work on
joint human rights projects.

what kind of collaborative projects do you imagine pursuing? What kinds of
resources could facehumanrights.org provide to help you and your partners
as you and your students plan and execute your joint projects?

If you wanted to network with another teacher or teachers around the
world, what in-formation would you need about/from them and what
information would you need/want to be able to post about yourself/your
course?

How much flexibility do you have in planning your own courses and
selecting re-sources (such as facehumanrights.org) to use in class?

Would you like to see sample course materials and lesson plans from us?

Do you have human rights related curricula, course materials or lesson
plans that could be posted for other teachers to use? If so, how do we
contact you?

Are you aware of any sources of human rights teaching materials that we
ought to know about and that ought to be posted on facehumanrights.org? If
so, where can we locate them?

Are there particular legal or other issues of which we should be aware in
how we con-struct the facehumanrights.org in general and the e-classroom
section in particular? What kinds of concerns might your principal,
superintendent or Board raise?

What can we do to make this site more attractive to teachers? In short,
how can we make this something you’ll want to keep coming back to?
