  CHILD SOLDIERS
A Global Challenge and US Policy

                        4 PM, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17

                             American University
School of International Service (SIS) Lounge
Main campus - 4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW

Children are fighting in nearly every major conflict around the globe, in
both government and opposition forces. While wars ending in Afghanistan,
Angola and Sierra Leone led to the demobilization of thousands of child
soldiers, new generations of children are drawn into new and worsening
conflicts elsewhere.

On November 17, the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers will
present the most comprehensive survey of child soldiers to date at
simultaneous events in the UK, Colombia, Kenya, Thailand, Lebanon and the
Philippines.

Come to American University to hear the highlights of this new study, and
the US government?s response to the global challenge of child soldiers.
