New materials for teaching about UN Day, Oct. 24, are available for free from InterConnections 21. Just visit www.ic21.org and click on "UN Day Materials". The materials -- which include lesson plans, background reading, case studies, a quiz, web links, and ideas for whole school UN Day events -- are interdisciplinary and can be used to teach about the UN at any time of the year. InterConnections 21 is the organization that coordinates the US Chapter of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project (ASPnet/USA). Member schools receive other UNESCO educational materials, and have the opportunity to participate in national and international conferences sponsored by ASPnet/USA. They can also link with ASPnet schools in 176 countries around the world to work on joint projects relating to global issues, human rights and intercultural learning.
