The American University Washington College of Law's Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and the School of Communication's Center for Social Media Proudly Present: FIFTH ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS FILM SERIES Our next screening is: AFGHANISTAN UNVEILED, Mon., Oct. 11, 6pm, WCL Rm. 602 Afghanistan Unveiled is a poetic journey of reality and hope, which reveals the effects of the Taliban's repressive rule and the recent U.S. military campaign on Afghan women. The first-ever team of four women video journalists present heartbreaking footage of rural Afghanistan, and serve as a reminder of independent media's power to bear witness and reveal truth. Special Guest Speaker: Andrea Harrison, Policy Coordinator for Women's Edge The Human Rights Film Series shows films on cutting-edge international human rights issues, as well as films that discuss using media as a strategy in human rights campaigns. Screenings are held at the law school on Mondays and at the Main Campus on Wednesdays. Each film is followed by a discussion led by an expert on the topic of the film.
