Second Annual Human Rights Institute for Educators
Held on the campus of University of California Irvine
June 21-24, 2003

Human Rights Aware is pleased to announce its second annual "Human
Rights for Educators" Institute. The purpose of this institute is
to teach the basic academic substance of human rights to teachers and
to give them tools to best teach human rights in  the classroom. It is open
to all educators at all levels in both formal and informal education.

TUITION: 2 or 4 Day Institute Option

Saturday-Sunday: $350.00
Saturday-Tuesday: $475.00

Places are still available. Partial scholarships may be available for
those that qualify.

The theme for this year is "Human Rights Under Fire: The Teacher's
Role." A wide range of experts are working together with educators to
bring about an informative institute. In the 2-day option, we will cover:

THE INTERNATIONAL BILL OF RIGHTS
IMPLEMENTATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE CLASSROOM
FILMS AND DOCUMENTARIES: TEACHING HUMAN RIGHTS
EXPERT RESOURCE PANEL

In addition to the 2-day option, the 4-day option will provide
educators with a more in-depth look at the field of international
human rights law and education:

THE RIGHTS OF ALIENS, WOMEN (CEDAW), AND CHILDREN (CRC)
EXPERT PANEL WILL DISCUSS  HUMAN RIGHTS AND WAR ON TERRORISM
LAW OF ARMED CONFLICT, ICRC
FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, CONSCIENCE
