SAVE THE DATE!!! THE HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION SUMMIT Host: Amnesty International USA, in collaboration with other national, regional and local educational organizations. What: Through a series of panel discussions, the Human Rights Education Summit will address issues that impact public and private school education in America today. The learning environment in our schools is greatly affected by social, economic, political, civil and cultural realities, as well as by state and national dictates, such as No Child Left Behind, state standards, and high-stakes testing. The goal of the Summit is to shed light on relevant issues as well as to bring to light effective human rights related strategies for dealing with those issues. In addition, the Summit will provide an opportunity to review the necessity and value of human rights education in our schools. Participants of the Summit will be invited to contribute to a collaborative position paper. When: July 31-August 1 Where: New York City, The Hotel Pennsylvania Cost: There is no registration fee and participants will be provided with written materials and a continental breakfast and lunch each day.
