Street Law – Project in Kosovo Dear Sir/Madam On behalf of Kosovo Law Centre I would like to inform you that the Street Law - Project will start soon. As you may have been informed earlier, preparations for the project started in November 2001. The main target groups of the Street Law are vulnerable groups, such as school children, prisoners, and woman NGO's. The aim of the project is to familiarize social groups with basic information about the law, state and human rights. An important part of the project is education about basic rights and freedoms in order to enable the participants to understand their rights, to use them properly and recognize when a violation occurred. Street Law Trainers, after four months of intensive work, completed the drafting of Street Law Manuals, on the basis of which the Street law Program will be conducted. The following parts have been included: I. Legal System II. Democracy III. Criminal Law IV. Human Rights Since the implementation date is approaching, the Kosovo Law Centre, in order to further empower the methodology skills of SL Trainers, is organizing a three day training on methodological aspects of Street Law, which will be held from 18th until 20th of November 2002 in Prishtina. The aim of the training is to introduce to Street Law Trainers the Street Law Methods as well as to ease their application during the training period. The KLC believes that Street Law Project will play a constructive role in improving legal knowledge among people in society towards the realization of everyone's interest in day-to-day life, and mostly in relation to public authorities.
