Alliance has initiated conversations with the relevant government
ministries, held a broad national consultation with NGOs and with children,
and set up several working groups to formulate proposals for India?s
national plan of action

Their activities provide a useful model of how NGOs can engage in the
process of developing national plans of action. The report is available as

- NGO COMMITTEE ON UNICEF: NGO Commitment Chart [news]

During the UN Special Session on Children which took place in May 2002, the
NGO Committee on UNICEF gathered and displayed a Commitment Chart,
presenting commitments made by governments, NGOs and other participants. It
is currently being updated for distribution (both by mail and email) to all
NGOs that attended the Special Session, so that it can be used as a
monitoring and/or advocacy tool in the follow-up activities, including the
National Plans of Action (NPAs), to the Special Session.

Those who would like to receive a copy of the Commitment Chart, regardless
of whether they attended the Special Session or not, should contact the NGO
Committee on UNICEF at the address below. The NGO Committee is also very
interested to hear about any progress made by NGOs regarding Special
Session follow-up, including initiatives with governments and other actors.
