- ARMED CONFLICT: Action for the Rights of Children - ARC [publication]

This publication describes the series of resource packs that have been
developed to focus attention on the rights and needs of children affected
by armed conflict. ARC resource packs are divided into two categories:
Foundations and Critical Issues. Each resource pack consists of briefing
notes, participatory training materials including case studies, and
training aids that encourage field and headquarters staff to integrate
their experience into regional situations. In addition, a Facilitator's
Toolkit gives the potential facilitator ideas about participatory training
approaches.

- SPECIAL SESSION: Children and Armed Conflict Caucus [request]

This message is ONLY FOR those NGOs who participated in the Children and
Armed Conflict Caucus at the Special Session PrepComs.

Input is requested on a possible Special Session Children and Armed
Conflict event. There may be an opportunity for an NGO speaker to
participate in one of the UN panel discussions focusing on monitoring and
reporting on Children and Armed Conflict. If you have suggestions for a
possible speaker who has experience in this area and is from one of the
conflict regions, then please contact Julia Freedson at the address below.
Ideally, this person would already be attending the Special Session in New
York, although if this is not the case, the organisers may be able to make
special arrangements.

- SPECIAL SESSION ON CHILDREN: CRIN News Coverage [request for information]

The Child Rights Information Network is now finalising its news coverage
for the forthcoming UN General Assembly Special Session on Children. This
will involve sharing information through CRIN's regular Special Session
CRINMAIL email service, Special Session theme desk on the website in the
run-up to the Special Session and news coverage during the event
itself. With less than two months before this historic event for children
takes place in New York, USA, the importance for actively sharing
information about events, publications, resources and news cannot be
underestimated. This Special Session will mark a commitment by the
international community to improve the rights and situation of the world's
children during the next 10 years, and its outcome 'A World Fit for
Children' will act as an action plan to shape positive development for
children in the future.

To support this process of active information exchange, please email CRIN
any information or updates you would like to share relating to the Special
Session on Children. CRIN will be sending out regular updates in the run up
to the Special Session in addition to disseminating daily updates during
the Special Session itself. To subscribe to the Special Session CRINMAIL,
please send a blank email to crin_specialsession-subscribe@domeus.co.uk or
