Nepal: Agreement against child labour, trafficking signed

MoU against child labour, trafficking signed
Post Report

KATHMANDU, March 25: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on solidarity
action against child labour exploitation and trafficking in children was
signed between CWIN-Nepal and Child Labour, Prostitution and Trafficking
Programme (CLPTP) of Save the Children Denmark today, states a press
release issued here today.

President of CWIN Gauri Pradhan and conveyor of CLPTP of SC Denmark
Salma Ali signed the MoU.

Both the organizations agree to initiate dialogues with respective
governments on SAARC conventions in relation to women and children
trafficking, for ratification and the follow-up of GO-NGO collaboration
in implementing its goals.

They will also facilitate networking to bring together all like-minded
organizations working for the cause of the rights, dignity and justice
for the child survivors of labour exploitation and trafficking.

Similarly, an information networking between CWIN and CLPTP/Save the
Children Denmark - Regional Office for South Asia will be initiated. The
release adds that CWIN is also among the organisers of many South Asian
initiatives, which are dedicated for the common cause of children at
risk.

South Asia is the common home of the world where one third child
population is at risk. It is thus an emerging part of the world where
focus should be laid on the rights of children.
