- CHILD RIGHTS CAUCUS: Planning Day with governments and UNICEF, February
28, New York [event]

The Child Rights Caucus will hold a planning day on February 28 2002 in New
York that will include three separate meetings: First, a meeting with some
of the governments that have advocated a child rights approach to discuss
the state of the negotiations and how we might best influence the parts of
the outcome document that are still to be negotiated; second, a meeting
with representatives of UNICEF to discuss plans for the Special Session;
and third, a discussion among members of the Caucus to consider our
strategy for the final lead-up to the Special Session and the Special
Session itself.

Recognising that the location in New York will limit participation, the
coordinating group hopes that some members of the Child Rights Caucus will
be able to attend the meeting. Because space may be limited, please e-mail
Jo at beckerj@hrw.org by February 15 if you are interested in
attending. In addition, a Strategy Day for the Child Rights Caucus will be
arranged prior to the Special Session itself.

- CHILD RIGHTS CAUCUS: The Future of the Caucus [discussion paper]

In late December 2001, the coordinating group circulated a discussion paper
regarding the future of the Child Rights Caucus, and options for what will
happen to the Caucus once the Special Session is over. Caucus members are
requested to respond to the paper and indicate which of the options they
prefer. These responses will then be compiled and circulated to inform
caucus discussions during the Special Session. All comments should be sent
