HREA opens office in Morocco

Casablanca, 3 October 2004 -- In September HREA opened an office in Casablanca, Morocco. Staff members of HREA-Morocco are Mustapha Kak (Programme Associate), Abderrahim Sabir (Senior Programme Associate for the Middle East and North Africa, in the picture right) and Chafika Tofaili (Programme Assistant, left).

HREA-Morocco staff members Chifaka Tofi (left), Programme Assistant, and Abderrahim Sabir, Senior Programme Associate for the Middle East and North AfricaThe Morocco team will be responsible for a two-year national training programme for the judiciary, a gender review of textbooks in Moroccan secondary schools and e-learning courses for human rights defenders in the Middle East and North Africa. Support for HREA's works in Morocco is provided by the Open Society Institute and the U.S. State Department.

A first teacher training and a national training for family judges are scheduled for January and February 2005.
