What we need
HREA seeks an intern with excellent language skills in Arabic or Russian to assist with translating a self-directed online learning course.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for:
importing translations into the course using Articulate Storyline; reviewing course slides to make sure they function and display correctly; aiding the various stages of producing other self-directed e-learning modules, such as researching engaging case studies and assignment ideas; assisting with updating HREAs website and online Human Rights Education Library; helping proofread and prepare course syllabi; time permitting and depending on the interns particular skills and knowledge, assisting HREA's Program Manager or Information Officer with additional tasks.
Knowledge/Skills
An ideal applicant will possess the following:
excellent command of Arabic or Russian; strong communication, writing, and editing skills; interest in human rights, education and online learning; basic knowledge of or interest in penal and criminal justice reform (preferred); accuracy and an eye for detail; demonstrated ability to work well independently and prioritize tasks.
When
Starting as early as 3 September 2013. The intern should be available through mid-December.
Where
At HREA's office in Central Square, Cambridge, MA. Certain tasks require an in-person presence at the HREA office, but some tasks can be accomplished remotely.
Hours required
Flexible depending on availability, but at least 16 hours per week preferred.
Support available
This internship is unpaid. However, interns benefit from working in a small non-profit environment and from the myriad human rights and education opportunities available in the Boston area.
