HREA once again among the 'best small charities in Massachusetts'

For immediate release
12 December 2005

Cambridge, MA, December 8, 2005 - Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) is included for the second time in the Massachusetts Catalogue for Philanthropy. This year's edition of the Catalogue for Philanthropy profiles 81 of Massachusetts' outstanding environmental, cultural, and human service agencies as "examples of excellence" in Massachusetts philanthropy.

HREA was chosen in rigorous competition by professional grantmakers. "Charities are selected for general excellence, cost-effectiveness, and teaching value about philanthropy," says George McCully, President of the Catalogue. HREA is one of the leading organizations worldwide dedicated to education and training in human rights. Each year HREA trains hundreds of educators, lawyers and human rights monitors around the world. As the Catalogue for Philanthropy put it when describing HREA: "Here is your opportunity to strike a philanthropic blow for freedom!"

McCully: "The Catalogue is designed as a showcase for Massachusetts philanthropy, and a one-stop-shop for a family's charitable giving. A single check, electronic transaction over the web or stock transfer can be allocated to as many charities as the donor pleases, and because the Catalogue is sponsored and paid-for by its philanthropic sponsors, 100% of every donation goes to the designated charities."
