Cambridge, 15 December 2004 -- In collaboration with Amnesty International-USA, HREA will be offering a two-day workshop "Demystifying Human Rights" for secondary school teachers on 30 April and 14 May 2005 in Boston (USA).
The course will look at the philosophical and historical origins of human rights, from natural law to the international law that created the United Nations. We will also examine international human rights standards, exploring the treaties that constitute this system and how these are intended to influence the actions of nation states. Participants will explore in hands-on ways how human rights can be integrated into classroom teaching.
The course is co-sponsored by HREA and Amnesty International's Northeast Regional Office.
