Fellow in Children's Rights, Child Development, Participation and Protection (Portuguese-speaking)

HREA is pleased to announce two fellowship opportunities in 2014 within its Children's Rights, Child Development, Participation and Protection Program and its Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Program. The fellows will support and strengthen two of HREA's core thematic focus areas. This will involve developing and implementing educational programming in Portuguese.

Position title: Fellow in Children's Rights, Child Development, Participation (Portuguese-speaking)

Reports to: Head of Research, Evaluation and Policy Development Department

Time frame: February-July 2014 (of which three months based in Cambridge/Boston)

Responsibilities: The Fellow will:

  • conduct research on children's rights to support existing and future programming;
  • identify education and training resources in Portuguese;
  • teach and co-teach e-learning courses in Portuguese and English;
  • contribute to the development and facilitation of face-to-face training workshops;
  • contribute to the development and facilitation of HREA's Community of Practice on children's.

Qualifications:

  • expertise in children's rights and child rights programming;
  • a minimum of five years' relevant programmatic and/or teaching and training experience;
  • experience with online instruction is desired but not required;
  • native speaker of Portuguese;
  • excellent command of English.

HREA offers:

  • a stipend for basic living expenses during the fellow's three-month stay in Massachusetts (USA), if coming from out-of-state/abroad;
  • a monthly honorarium;
  • three months at HREA's headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA);
  • the opportunity to actively engage with, learn from, and increase the skills and knowledge of children's rights practitioners, educators and human rights defenders from across the globe;
  • the opportunity to further develop research, teaching, and facilitation skills.
