HREA conducts survey for media professionals for development of e-course on international humanitarian law

HREA is conducting a survey of media professionals for a new self-directed online course for journalists on the laws of armed conflict and war. The course will aim to raise the capacity of media professionals, from journalists reporting from conflict zones to bloggers to citizen-journalists to editors, to report on conflicts and their aftermath. Journalists serve a critical role in these situations. Understanding international humanitarian law (IHL) can provide media members with an important lens through which to report. In turn, accurate and responsible reporting can give the public a greater understanding of IHL, improve capabilities to contribute to post conflict stability, and help prevent further conflict.

The feedback we receive will help HREA to design the course according to media professionals’ particular interests and needs. To take the survey, please go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VYTKG5S.

The course is made possible thanks to a grant from the United States Institute for Peace.
