HREA, in collaboration with INTRAC and the Jordan Civil Society Program, conducted a “bootcamp” for human rights trainers in Amman from 27-31 January 2013. Twenty trainers from NGOs and other civil society organisation participated in the five-day training of trainers that addressed topics like theory of change, methodology, the human rights framework, curriculum development, and impact assessment.
The bootcamp is part of the “Upgrading NGO Training Curricula: Integrating the Human Rights-Based Approach Program” that HREA is implementing for the AED/Civil Society Program Jordan and which is financially supported by USAID. The program aims to strengthen the ability of Jordanian civil society organizations (CSOs) to integrate the human rights-based approach into their training programs by applying innovative approaches to human rights training, coupled with international best practices and Jordanian case studies. The program targets NGOs working on human rights and development issues to engage their trainers (in-house or freelancers) in upgrading existing curricula or create new curricula on rights). As a follow-up to the bootcamp awards will be issued to ten NGOs to cover the costs of the trainer’s time to develop the new/upgrade curriculum and pilot the course during on-the-job training with the NGOs’ specific target audience.
