HREA Advocacy Institute 2015 a success

Participants representing 11 countries across four continents attended the third annual HREA Advocacy Institute in Cambridge. This year’s group included humanitarian and development workers, and advocates working on issues such as children’s rights, women’s human rights, and health and housing rights in marginalised communities from Boston to Ramallah.

Hellen Nakawooya Kasujja from Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI, Uganda) explains how the Advocacy Institute will inform her advocacy work: “For me learning how to slice problems into smaller advocacy issues has been a powerful take-away from the Advocacy Institute“.

The HREA Advocacy Institute consists of a series of four days of intensive workshops on advocacy planning and implementation for human rights work. In the afternoons and evenings, attendees will have the opportunity to network with colleagues, meet with advocacy and program staff of local non-profit organisations and universities, and present on their own work.

Registration for the 2016 Advocacy Institute, which will take place in Nairobi (Kenya), will open in November 2015. For more information about the Institute, please visit www.hrea.org/advocacy-institute.
