Global Consultation on the World Programme for Human
Rights Education From 14 June-18 July, HREA and partners organise a moderated forum discussion for non-governmental organisations and other civil society actors on the Global Human Rights Education listserv and six regional listservs, reaching over 10,000 educators and activists worlwide. The objective of this forum is to discuss ideas and strategies to strengthen human rights education at the national, regional and international levels as a follow-up to the Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004), including mobilisation strategies/mechanisms which could be proposed for consideration to the United Nations. The forum has the following agenda: 14-20 June 21-27 June 28 June-4 July 5-11 July 12-18 July Every Monday participants receive a "facilitation" message with questions regarding that week's topic. At the end of each week, the week's discussion is summarised and shared with all Global Consultation participants for additional comments. The summaries will be the basis for a report -- prepared by HREA and its regional partners the Asian Regional Resource Center for Human Rights Education (ARRC), Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, Instituto Interamericano de Derechos Humanos (IIDH), Moscow School for Human Rights and l'Union Interafricaine des Droits de l'Homme (UIDH) -- to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO, who will submit recommendations to the UN General Assembly.
