  1. Does HREA offer human rights courses and/or trainings?
HREA organises courses, training workshops,  and blended learning programs upon request. Upcoming e-learning courses carried out by our sister organization Human Rights Campus be found in “E-learning Opportunities” section of the website.
  2. Can I become a member of HREA?
HREA is a non-governmental organization but we are not a membership organization. You are invited to join the Global HRE Listserv.
  3. How does HREA develop partnerships with other organizations?
HREA works closely with a variety of organizations: non-governmental organizations (NGOs), inter-governmental bodies, associations of professionals, academic institutions and governments agencies. Typically, these partnerships are initiated as part of grant-supported activities conducted in a specific country or program area.
  4. Is it possible to distribute urgent action alerts through the HREA network?
HREA is not an advocacy organization and thus does not organize or distribute urgent alerts. We advise you to contact organizations such as Amnesty International, the Asian Human Rights Commission, Human Rights Watch or the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), who have extensive networks to disseminate urgent appeals.
  5. Is it possible to have an internship at HREA?
HREA regularly offers both paid and non-paid internships for students of education, international relations, political science and related disciplines. Announcements of upcoming internships are posted on our website.
  6. How can I donate to HREA?
Contributions to HREA can be made in various ways. For more information visit the Donate section of our site.
  7. Where can I find the text of the Universal Declaration and other international human rights documents?
The full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the International Bill of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of All Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the European Convention on Human Rights, and many other international and regional human rights instruments can be found in HREA’s on-line Resource Centre. The world’s most comprehensive on-line collection of documents, reports to international human rights monitoring bodies, and many other important human rights instruments can be found at the University of Minnesota Human Rights Library.
  8. Are there job openings at HREA?
Any positions will be advertised on HREA’s homepage. The following web sites offer comprehensive listings of jobs in the human rights, international development and related non-profit fields: idealist.org, OneWorld and Relief Web.
  9. I think my human rights have been violated. Where can I get help?
The international and regional mechanisms for human rights protection are based on the assumption that “domestic remedies have been exhausted”. Often local agencies can be of more immediate help in determining whether or not your rights have been violated and what steps should be undertaken. We suggest you contact a human rights organization in your community, your local human rights commission or social service agency for assistance.
  10. Are there volunteer opportunities at HREA?
Our work would not be possible without the many enthusiastic and committed volunteers who contribute to our programs. There are many ways to get involved: translate educational materials (Arabic, Dari, Dutch, English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish); build the HREA Resource Center; and other rolling opportunities.  Please contact us at [info@hrea.org].
  11. Does HREA offer grants?
Sorry, HREA is not a grant-giving organization.
