Calendar September 2002 23 September-18 October 2002 The programme focuses on human rights and gender issues; international standards of equality; and policies aiming at enhancing gender equality. During this course, human rights protection of women are covered in all pertinent areas, thus encompassing civil and political as well as social and economic rights. The programme is inter-disciplinary and involves aspects of law, social sciences and interdisciplinary areas of development and democratisation. The overall aim of the course is to provide a sound knowledge of human rights and establish a basis for further human rights training on a national level. The course is primarily designed for women's organisations, senior staff members of government agencies responsible for equality and gender issues, and researchers dealing with gender and related issues. Level: professional Location: Lund, Sweden Participants: Participants from NGOs and governmental organisations from the following countries are invited: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Democr. Rep., Laos, Lebanon, Malawi, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Venezuela, West Bank and Gaza, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Tuition, fee, lodging: candidates who are accepted to participate will get a scholarship covering all costs for tuition, accommodation and meals. The application form has to be submitted to a local embassy by 5 July 2002.
