Course on International Human Rights

5-9 November 2001

The DCHR conducts a five-day human rights course in cooperation with the UN Information Office for the Nordic Countries. The course is aimed at representatives from Danish organisations, ministries, educational establishments and others including private persons. The course gives a thorough introduction to basic principles of human rights and their content and application. The course subjects will be:

* The UN human rights system
* regional human rights conventions and systems
* particular rights for groups, such as refugees, children and minorities
* the validity of human rights in different cultures
* human rights and ethics
* human rights and development
* human rights in practice

The course lecturers are predominantly researchers from the DCHR. The course will be conducted in Danish.

Level: professional

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

Participants: staff of human rights organisations and activists

Tuition, fee, lodging: Cost of attendance including lunch and coffee: DKK3000,- for organisations/DKK1500,- for private persons. Deadline for applications: October 2001.
