Voice your opinion! On-line Forum on Human Rights Education
(18 November-18 December 2002)

From 18 November-18 December HREA organised a moderated forum discussion for non-governmental organisations and other civil society actors on the Global Human Rights Education listserv. The objective of this forum was to discuss ideas and strategies to strengthen human rights education at the national, regional and international levels as a follow-up to the Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004), including mobilisation strategies/mechanisms which could be proposed for consideration to the United Nations.

The forum had the following agenda:

18-24 November
Follow-up to the Decade at the local and national levels (Summary) [en español] [russkiy]

25 November-1 December
Follow-up to the Decade at the regional level (Summary) [español] [russkiy]

2-18 December
Follow-up to the Decade at the international level (Summary) [russkiy]

Every Monday participants received a "facilitation" message with questions regarding that week's topic. At the end of each week, HREA summarised the week's discussion and shared the summary with all On-line Forum members for additional comments. The summaries were the basis for a report, prepared by HREA, to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, for the preparation of a study requested by the UN Commission on Human Rights. The Final report to the UN Commission on Human Rights was made available in March 2003.
